Mesquite Wood
Source: American Southwest from Mexican border to southern Utah.
Description: Mesquite, also known as Texas Ironwood, is a hardy wood that thrives in arid climates. It's root structure has been known to reach down over 160 feet to draw water from the water table. Normally Mesquite is harversted from shrub sized trees by cattle ranchers as it competes for moisture with range grasses. It is an exeptionally hard wood and is much sought by woodworkers and woodturners.
