Description: Boxelder is actually a member of the Maple family (Acer Negundo). It is not a particularly hard wood and is normally stabilized for woodworking purposes. The grain exhibits little contrast to the sapwood, so the wood is normally dyed to bring out a dramatic contrast. However, Boxelder Burl wood can be quite dramatic with lots of rays and eyes.
