Description: Osage Orange wood comes from a tree that produces a dioeceous fruit. It was used extensively to prevent soil erosion in the plains states during the 1930s. It's fruit is not edible by humans but extracts of the fruit have proven useful as insect repellents. The wood is hard, dense, and was used by native Americans to make shooting bows. The wood is known for it's brilliant yellow-orange color and extracts have been used as dyes.
