Olivewood
Source: Wordlwide
Description: A medium density hardwood harvested from the olive tree. Olivewood has a light tan sapwood and extremely dramatic dark brown grain. Woodturners like it as it gives off a wonderful aroma while being turned on the lathe. All of the olivewood I use comes from olive trees, mostly more than 150 years old in Bethlehem, Israel. No trees are damaged when the wood is harvested. The wood comes from annual prunings which are completed to enhance productivity of fruit.
Availability: Olivewood, generally is widely available. The wood I use from Bethlehem is available as the annual pruning operations are accomplished.
